BUKAREST. 5% Teilschuldverschr. 500 Mark=615 Lei,Serie III. Serie F. yellow, red, black. #3300. No 85. One of the largest of Rumanian oil-companies. Founded in 1895, by Hungarian interests. The company's deposits were large, and the Hungarians did not have the resources to finance their development, so they sold to Wiener Bank and Deutsche Bank. The Deutsche Bank held the majority of shares in 1916, when Rumania entered World War I, and transferred them to a Swiss name. After the War, a British-French-Rumanian combine bought the shares from the Swiss name; Rumanian interests held 50.1%. The company's deposits were in the Ploesti area (the heart of the Rumanian oil industry), and its large refinery was there, also. Production topped a million tonnes in 1931. Distribution was effected through a great network of agents and subsidiaries, in many countries. The bonds are in German and Rumanian, printed by Giesecke & Devrient, and show a logo.
