PARIS. Part de Fondateur de F2000. black. No 135. Central fold and (faintly) stained right half of the share. This company had the ambition to build a gigantic crystal palace in park St. Cloud (following the 1851 London Crystal Palace). Although we have seen sketches, gravures and plans of the French Crystal Palace, it seems there were insufficient means to actually get beyond the planning stage. On the site, Saint Cloud, 10 km west of Paris, stood until 1870 a Royal Palace (inhabited by e.g. Marie Antoinette, Napoleon Bonaparte and Napoleon III). During the French-Pruissian war, the German army occupied the castle and used its high position to bomb Paris. The Royal Castle was destroyed by French counter fire. After that, the site became a park (Domaine nationale de Saint-Claud), which it still is today.
