Shares of 10s/-. green. No 1855. Folds. Est. 1910 to acquire from Oroya Brownhill Co the Leonesa gold mines in Nicaragua. In voluntary liquidation 3 years later. Signed as director by Herbert C. Hoover (1874-1964). He was the 31st President of the USA. After his studies at Stanford, Hoover became a successful mining engineer with a global perspective. He worked in Nevada, California, Western Australia, China, etc. In 1908, he became an independent mining consultant and with investments on every continent. He specialized in rejuvenating troubled mining operations, taking a share of the profits in exchange for this technical and financial expertise. By 1914, Hoover was a very wealthy man. During WWI, Hoover helped organize the return of around 120,000 Americans from Europe and led a major international relief effort in Belgium. After the war, he led the American Relief Administration and became US Secretary of Commerce in 1920. He became US President during the first years of the Great Depression (1929-1933. It is very rare to find an autograph of a U.S. President on a stock or bond certificate.
