10 Shares of 100 Rbls. black, buff. No 3371-80. Fine vignette of the great hotel. It was built by the Italian architect Carlos Rossi in 1824 on demand of Tsar Alexander I. The luxureous hotel had many famous gasts such as Peter Tschaikovski, Sergei Prokofiev and foreign heads of state. After the Russian revolution the hotel became an orphan house until 1924, after which it became a hotel again. Completely renovated in 1991, it is today one of the great 5-star hotels in the world, as Bill Clinton, amongst many others, can testify.
