LOT OF 2 HORATIO BOTTOMLEY PIECES

Losnummer: 762
1. MRS. BULL LTD, 6% Cum. Conv. Preference Shares of 2/6, purple, 1910. 2. VICTORY BOND CLUB, Cert. of Membership of 1 Share of £1. 1919. Both papers have a central fold. Mrs. Bull is shown on her certificate. This was a printing company. Both pieces are facsimile signed by Horatio Bottomley (1860-1933). He published the popular magazine John Bull, launched the Financial Times (1888), was well known for his patriotic oratory during WWI, became Member of Parliament... but was also a swindler (notably with a fraudulent "Victory Bonds" scheme, such as the one we offer in this lot) and imprisoned in 1922.
