Around 1870 the Rumanian rail network was expanding, and a line was built from Bucharest to Guirgevo, in the south of the country. The contractors were Barkley Brothers, a English firm. The line needed iron bridges built over the river Argis. A loan, for about £435.000 was raised in London by the Rumanian Government, as 4350 bonds of £100, sold at £86, to earn 7% interest. This is one of those bonds. Redemption stamps on the face. Extremely rare and very early for Romanian scripophily.
