69 RHONE. LYON. Action de F500. black, yellow. #1000. No 699. Large, square format, with scenes of the ice-works, with workers cutting blocks of ice from a glacier, and sending it away by train. However, the Statuts say the company manufactured ice by artificial means! The company was founded by 2 Lyon brewers (breweries in those days, were the main buyers of ice). M. A. Friedrich and M. Jacob open in 1866 gigantic ice-caves in the rue des Trois Artichauts, Lyon. After the death of Friedrich in 1883, the company gets into financial difficulties and this new company is founded with the support of his widow. Superb piece, and extremely rare.
