6% Obligation de F500=£20. black, buff. #800000. No 23954. Central fold. Somewhat damaged left border (outide the printed frame of the bond). Large format. By the year 1860, the Ottoman Empire was extremely high debited. The English and French governments as well any of the large banks at those times (Rothschild, Pereira, Lafitte) didn't want to lend more money. Hence, a smaller French banker, Mires, organised this public loan. Of the 400 million francs initially asked, only 215 million was subscribed to. The earliest available bond of the Ottoman Empire and extremely rare.
