Ordinary Shares of £1. Serie 1. blue, black, red seal. #1999900. No 94596. Trimmed borders and some edge-damage. Folds. This is a piece of the first issue. Design of scenes of Jewish agricultural and industrial settlement, and the temple wall at Jerusalem. Map of Palestine in the underprint. Formed 1899 in London to act as thefinancial instrument of the Zionist movement, to promote and work colonisation schemes in the East, by preference in Syria and Palestine. The Chairman was D.Wolffsohn, of Köln; the other directors lived in Odessa, The Hague, London, Pinsk, Dvinsk&Jassy. The governors were in Riga, Mainz and Kiev. The bank's activities in Palestine were carried out by the Anglo-Palestine Bank, a subidiary formed in 1902. In 1950, the bank was renamed Bank Leumi Le-Israel (=National Bank of Israel).
