Coal-mining started there at the end of the 18th century, and continued to 1914. It was never very profitable. The coal was of only moderate quality, the veins were deep (to 250m) and thin (40to 50 cm), which made working them very difficult. The coal was used by the nearby glassworks at Lardin. Very decorative border, with 3 vignettes of the mines, and an art-nouveau underprint of flowers. Issued in Brussels.
