Founded 1851 by Willem Ragheno (1820-1867) as a smeltery for the production of railroad material (Mechelen was of course the centre of the Belgian railroads). The company was succesful and soon, it built entire railroad wagons. Buyers included not only Belgian railroad companies, but also Dutch and Chinese firms. Later the company expanded into other industries: automotive, aviation, furnitures,... It closed in the late 1960s.
