Vignette of 'Lady Confederacy' with flag, bales, etc. Printed in Europe and sold there by the merchant bank, run by Baron Emile Erlanger. Issued under the Act ofJan. 29, 1863 for a total amount of £3 million. The bonds were issued in 4 denominations: £100, £200, £500 and £1000. Signed by John Slidell, the well-known Confederate commissioner. The buyer may claim, from the Confederates States government, the sumof £100, or 4000lbs of cotton, of New Orleans middling quality, which he may arrange to collect from the ports of Charleston, Savannah, Mobile or New Orleans.
