LONDON. letter A £100 Sterling. black. No 229. Folds, damaged bottom (outside the printed part of the cert.) The Rep. of New Granada consisted of present-day Colombia and Panama with smaller portions of today's Costa Rica, Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru and Brazil. The state was created in the early 1830sand disappeared in 1868. The bond, with text in English and Spanish, is of large format and shows the coat-of-arms of the country. Countersigned by Baring Brothers. Good early date for South American state bonds. Scarce.
