ST. PETERSBURG. Share of 1000 Rbls, unissued. red, black. Central fold. "New Bavaria" was a brewery established 1885 in St Petersburg with a capital of 600,000 roubles. The founders were the local merchant Ratkov-Rozhnov, the St. Petersburger brewery family Durdin and the German-Jewish bankers Ginzburg. By 1908, the company turnover amounted to 1,1 million roubles with a labor force of 250 men. At that time, GrigorijGrigorjevitch, a leading St Petersburg businessman, had become the brewery's president. The brewery building still stands today and is a protected monument. This founder share, has not been seen by us before and originates from an old collection.
