MOSCOU. 10 Actions de 250 Rbls. red, green, black. No 1671-80. Central fold, several small edge-splits, a little staining at the top border. Text in Russian and French. Wide and complex vignette of a shipping scene on the Volga. As such perhaps the most decorative of all Russian shipping pieces. Founded 1899 with a capital of 2 million roubles (including the share we offer here). Purpose of the company was to combine a number of small steam shipping businesses active on the Volga River (Europe's largest river in terms of discharge and watershed) into one consolidated limited company. Its chairman, Count Arthur IvanovichCherep-Spiridovich (1868-1926) has signed this certificate. He was a Tsarist general and white Russian loyalist. Following the Bolshevik Revolution, he moved to the United States where he was involved in antisemitic activism and perhaps best known as author of "Secret World Government of The Hidden Hand" in which he describes how 300 Jewish families supposedly rule the world. Extremely rare.
