LISBOA. 8% Bond of 50 Debentures of £50 or Esc.225 gold. orange, black. No 240151-200. Large format with vignette of a locomotive. Text in Portuguese and English. Founded 1921 to connect the port of Cuanza Sul (in the city of Porto Amboim) to Bimbe/Bailunde.The first 108 km, until Carlaongo, was in operation by 1925. The remaining sectionwas slowly built between 1931-1941, when it reached 130km to Gabela. As such, it connected the coast with the coffee and cotton growing regions of the colony. Nationalised in 1975 by the now independent Angolese authorities, but no more in use nowadays. The total loan amounted to £250,000.
