The only railway company we have ever seen on one of the Portuguese islands, in this case Madeira. British style certificate, but with text entirely in Portuguese. This was a single-track cogwheel railway that connected Pombal, in Funchal, to Terreiro da Luta, in Monte, for a length of 3911m. The line opened partially in 1893, but was not completed until 1912. It stopped its activities in 1943. Only this one piece is known to us.
