PARIS. Quittance de 50.000 Livres. black. No 675. Fold and a little staining. A dotation issued by the French Royal Treasury to the Duc de Bordeaux in 1827. At that time, the Duc was Henri d'Artois who had already been given this title at the time of his birth in 1820. At the age of 10, and following the abdication of his grandfather, Charles X, he became for a short period the Titular King of France (2-9 August 1830). He was the last legitimate descendant of Louis XV in the male line. From 1844 until his death in 1883, he was the Legitimistpretender of the throne of France (as opposed to the Orléanist supporters of the family of Louis Philippe, King of France from 10 August 1830 until 1848). A most unusual financial document.
