PLZEN. 6% First Mortgage Debenture of £50. green, black. #7500. No 251552. Skoda logo. Skoda was one of the most important industrial concerns of the Austro-Hungarian empire. In 1923 it started car production in the newly created Czechoslovakia, building Hispano-Suizas under license. The engine was a 6-litre 6-cylinder type, with a body of Skoda's own design. 1925 Skoda took over the Laurin &Klement works at MladaBoleslav, and production of Skoda cars began there. The range included 4-, 6- and 8-cylinder models of conventional design. More advanced ideas came in with the 1930s and Skoda cars became famous, with a good record in rallies. The range improved steadily to 1939. During the war the factories were dedicated to German military production. From the 1950s cars were produced again, but these were of poor quality, and little more than a joke in western markets. Today Skoda is part of the Volkswagen Group. This sterling bond is very rarely seen. Printed by Waterlow, London. Folds and a few pin-holes.
