WEST-VLAANDEREN. STE-KRUIS (BRUGGE). Aandeel Nom. van F100. red, black, green. #1000. No 80. Large format piece with folds and quite a bit of edge-damage, but hardly into the printed part of the share. The cooperative brewery was established at Sinte-Kruis, with the aim of producing the highest-quality beer possible. Gambrinus, after whom the company is named, was a mythical Flemish king, who is credited with the first brewing of beer. His name is usually derived from Jan Primus, the victorious Duke of Brabant (1261-94), who was president of the Brussels guild of brewers. This type is new tous, and should not be confused with the shares also issued in 1909 which augmented the company capital from 100.000 to 300.000 BEF. The share we offer here is a founder share, one of the original 1000.
