LIEGE. 1. Action Ordinaire, 1905. 2. Action Privilégiée (Ordinaire) de F100, 1905. 3. Obligation de F500, 1930. All unissued. Originally founded by the German Henri Pieper who constructed the first electric tramway in Belgium (in Liège). At the end of the 19thcentury, he constructedvoiturettes with a single-cylinder 3.5hp, or a 6hp 2-cylinder engine, and belt drive. In 1900 these were joined by an electric two-seater, and also by a petrol-electric car. Later, Auto-Mixte, another Belgian carmaker, produced petrol-electric vehicles which were based on Pieper designs. As such, Pieper was one of the first pioneers of what we call today hybrid cars. Pieper also manufactured arms, and continued to do so until 1953.
