Founded 1895 by the Belgian engineer Charles Charlier and the Russian engineer Ivan Likhatshev as an investment company in tramway companies. Through its (majority) participations it was involved in the construction and/or operating of tramway lines inAgram (=Zagreb, Croatia), Antwerp and Ostend (Belgium), Belgrade (Serbia), Bialystok (Poland/Russia), Calais, Dunkerque and Nantes (France), Galatz (Romania), Kazan, Kiev, Koursk and Saratov (Russia), Naples (Italy), Rosario (Argentinia), Smyrne(Ottoman Empire), Tunis (Tunisia), Bangkok (Thailand), Frankfurt, Barmen-Elberfeld, Köln (Germany), etc. In 1910, the Société Générale took the majority of the company through an important capital increase. Because of the Russian revolution, the company suffered heavy losses. In the end, the company became part of Tractebel. Attractive piece with large underprint of 5 trams and a border listing tens of cities around the world where the company operated (directly or indirectly) tramways. Extremely rare.
