Shares of £10. black. No 677. Several folds. Originally founded 1887 when Mozambique was a Portuguese colony (Portuguese East Africa). Built and operated a 55km railroad in Delagoa Bay (today known as Maputo). Purpose was to extend the line to the South African railway network, but disagreements between the Portuguese and British authorities delayed the project 2 years. After financial compensations for Portugal, the company was turned into this British joint-stock company. The railroad network expanded to Pretoria via Komatipoort - 562km and was controlled by the Nederlansche Zuid-Afrikaansche Spoorwegmaatschappij.
