ANVERS. 5 Parts de Fondateur. blue, black. #30000. No 5481-85. Heavy fold and a little staining in the borders. Formed 1914 to produce groundnuts and other oil-bearing plants, also maize and other cereals, in the Congo. Doubtless because of the War, the company did not actually acquire its estate until 1920. That estate, of 40.000Ha, was between Lisala and Yakata, on the left bank of the Congo River. The company planted oil-palms there, and built a processing factory at Mongana. The main shareholdings were held by G. & C. Kreglinger, of Antwerp, and Lever Brothers (now Unilever), the giant British oil and soap company (several of the directors were British). Underprint of oil-palms. Very pretty and rare certificate.
