It was founded in Istanbul in 1892 to insurance against fire and accidents. It also offered life insurance. The capital was fixed at 440,000 Ottoman Liras. The company was successful with regular profits. In 1905, the company was renamed as "Istanbul UmumSigortaSirketi" (Société d'AssurancesGénérales de Constantinople). In 1926, the capital was raised to 550.000 liras and its stocks were listed in the Istanbul Stock Exchange the same year. Text in French and in Turkish (Arabic script).
