Fractional scrip SCRIP OF 1925 gold bond. Cat. KUL 670 SCRIP. brown, yellow. #877878. No 1848. Folds. Text in French, English and some Chinese. This bank was founded on the initiative of a French and Belgian industrialist to rival the powerful Banque de l'Indochine. Founded in 1913 in Peking, it quickly obtained the concession for several important public works in Peking and in some Chinese ports. During WWI, the bank expanded quickly, offering very favourable rates of interest to its clients. After the war, the Banque de l'Indochine counterattacked and by 1921, the Banque Industrielle de Chine was in serious difficulties. Two years later, it was bankrupt. What we offer is rare fractional certificate giving right to 1 44/60 U.S.A. Gold $ of a Chinese 5% gold bond issue in 1925. Part of the liquidation process of the bank. Extremely rare certificate.
