PARIS. Part de Fondateur. green, black. No 7612. Fold at the lower bottom (with repaired tears) and a few small edge-splits and discolouration at the left border, all outside the printed part of the share. Formed Paris, 1882. The hill of La Fourvière, overlooking Lyon, has from great antiquity been ofgreat importance to the city. The Roman city was there (with still much to see today). The site had religious significance for many centuries before a decision was taken to build an enormous and ornate new basilica there, with observatory and viewing platform, which opened in 1882 - the year when this company was formed to offer a panorama of the basilica and the view of Lyon from it. This share, with fine border and decorative underprint, shows the Fourvière hill with its new basilica. Might well be unique.
