By far the world's biggest collection of panorama certificates. To the best of our knowledge, all panorama pieces we have ever seen, are included in this collection so one can safely say this collection is +95% complete. See lots 10 to 87 for all detail. The history of panoramas is rather interesting. In the second half of the 19th century, panoramic paintings became a very popular way to represent (exotic) landscapes and historical events. Spectators were immersed in a winding 360-degree panorama and given the impression of standing in a new environment. One has to remember that this was before the invention of cinema, so a panoramic painting was visually the among the most appealing and impressive attractions one could visit. So for instance, during the famous Exposition Universelle of 1900 in Paris, several pavilions had huge success with their panoramic paintings. The commercialisation was largely a Belgian/French success, although companies in other countries were founded as well - as evidenced by this collection. We first offer the possibility to obtain this entire collection in 1 lot here. If however, nobody places a bid, we offer in the next lots the several certificates one by one.
