Ltd (popularly known as the White Star Line, from the logo on the funnels of its ships). The earlier line operated a prestigious passenger line across the Atlantic, and was the owner of the 'Titanic'. Liquidated in 1935 when its parent company was reorganised as Royal Mail Lines Ltd. Many of the ships were acquired by the new Cunard White Star Line Ltd, formed from the Cunard Steamship Co.Ltd.These included the'Queen Mary'; later the company built the 'Queen Elizabeth'.
