PREUSSEN. BERLIN. Aktie 100 Thaler (Gründeraktie). black, buff. #20000. No 7547/6996. A little edge-damage but not touching the printed part of the share. Constructed a 'Passage' between 1869 and 1873 to link the Friedrichstrasse and Unter den Linden in a neo-renaissance style. On March 19th 1873, the building was inaugurated by EmperorWilhelm I and named after him. On the ground floor there is a 128 meter corridor for shoppers. Alfred Grenander rebuilt the Passage in the style of "NeuenSachlichkeit". In 1943, following an air attack, the passage was nearly completely destroyed. Nowadays it is the location of the Westin Grand Hotel. This very decorative share from 1870 shows a large vignette of the original Passage. One of the prettiest of all German pieces.
