Lotnumber: 557
PARIS. Part Bénéficiaire. multicolour. #2000. No 820. Folds with a tiny hole and a little brown foxing. This is a rather sensational discovery: the first share of a company formed for colour-photography and, to the best of our knowledge, the first such a company ever created. The company published a Traitépratique de la photographie des couleurs in 1899 (author: L. Dugardin, who also signed this share as administrator). This share should not be confused by the similar looking - and well-known - shares of Société Internationale des Photographie des Couleurs which are dated 2 years later (1899). The two companies are of course linked but we have never before seen shares of this Société Nationale from 1897. It is a magnificent piece with a charming design by LUCIEN METIVET, in delicate colours, of an angel appearing to the girl photographers. Border vignettes of the pioneers Niépce and Daguerre, and arms of Paris. Only this one share was discovered earlier this year.
