PARIS. Action Nominative de F250. black. #1080. No 54. Folds and a little edge-damage, not into the printed part of the share. Formed Paris 1837 to establish oyster-farms at Cancale, Brittany, near St.Malo. Arms of the two towns, and fine view of both, one with a busy river Seine and the other with busy shipping off the coast. The border is quite superb, with cornucopias overflowing with oysters, various fish and shellfish, anchors, barrels, etc. Underprint of a map of France, from Paris to the Normandy and north-east Brittany coast. Cancale was made a'ville' in 1545 because of the royal appreciation of its oysters, which were sent twice a week to the court in Paris. Extremely rare and interesting early share.
