PRAGUE. Action de 320 Couronnes. green, black. No 614615. Central fold with edge-tear. Text in Czech and French. Skoda was one of the most important industrial concerns of the Austro-Hungarian empire. In 1923 it started car production, building Hispano-Suizas under license. The engine was a 6-litre 6-cylinder type, with body of Skoda's own design. In 1925 Skoda took over the Laurin &Klement works at MladaBoleslav, and production of Skoda cars began there. The range included 4-, 6- and 8-cylinder models of conventional design. More advanced ideas came in with the 1930s and Skoda cars became famous, with a good record in rallies. The range improved steadily to 1939, when the factory converted to production for the German military. After the war civil production restarted and continues today as part of the Volkswagen Audi Gruppe.
