PENNSYLVANIA. LANCASTER. 7% Bond of $50. black. No 76. Large format. Folds with (repaired) edge-tears and small holes. Lovely, large vignette depicting a river floating through a rural landscape. Part of a loan of $18,000. Inc. 1851 to build a bridge across the Susquehanna River at York Furnace (at the lower end of York and Lancaster counties). The wooden bridge opened in 1855 but ill-fated: in Feb. 1857, a severe ice flood destroyed the bridge.
