TERUEL. ALBARRACIN/MADRID. 1/4 Accion. blue, red, gold, black. No 62/2. Very colourful and striking piece, of a very modern design for this date. The company worked a silver mine. Design shows the mine, by a mountain. Issued to the Duke of Riansares, the second husband of Maria Cristina de Borbon. When the old King of Spain, Ferdinand VII died in 1833, his young widow married a sergeant of the Royal Guard, named Munoz. This caused a great scandal in the court. The Queen made him Duke of Riansares. He was involved in much unsavory business, and tookfull advantage of his position as the husband of the Queen Mother. This led to the two of them being forced into exile, in Paris, until their deaths. Only 5 pieces known to us.
