Lotnumber: 571
NAPLES. 3,5% Obligation de 500 Ducats=F2200. black. #6000. No 9. Folds and a little staining. Text in French. Long format, thin paper. The bank was formed in 1834 with 2 series of shares. The first series was reserved for citizens of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, but the second series was converted to obligations for sale to foreigners. The bank was formed, apparently with a loan from François van Aken of Brussels (probably connected with the Gent textile family of this name), to supply funds for the 'censitaires' of Naples to pay their 'cens' to the state. These were apparently landowners, with a tax to pay. Interest on the bond was payable in Naples, Paris or Antwerp (from Joseph Le Grelle). Early date.
