06 ALPES-MARITIMES. NICE. Action de F100. brown, orange. #12500. No 143. Two small edge-splits, repaired. The Palais de la Jetée-Promenade was one of Nice's several casinos. It was a fine place when opened around 1900, but had become unprofitable by the 1930s, and was in a rather poor condition when closed early in WW2. It was destroyed in 1943 by the Germans, who wanted the metal in its construction. Fine view of the Palais, standing in the sea off the beach at Nice.
