73 SAVOIE. CHAMBERY. Action Nominative de F100. buff, black. No 87. Formed Chambéry, 1884, to exploit the grottoes, located on the western edge of the Massif de la Chartreuse, in 73 Savoie. The grottoes have been created by the continual erosion by a torrent of the limestone massif, and have some remarkable geological formation, including 'marmites des géants'. They are on a Roman road little used today but, in the past, a main transit point between France and Piedmont, later replaced by a tunnel. Only 120 shares issued. Attractive underprint of the region.
