PARIS. Action de Capital de F100. black, buff. No 12322. Folds, small edge-tear, pin-holes. Formed in Paris in 1853 to 'search for gold in the water-courses of Australia'. Ornate oval border, with four pretty vignettes of miners at work in a river, and an emigrant ship. Engraved by Leper. We have seen some ofthe shares issued in Paris in 1851/2 for similar ventures to the California goldfields, but know only of this company for the (first) Australian gold rush. Most interesting and attractive share, from the very beginning of Australia's gold-mining history. Extremely rare.
