33 GIRONDE. BORDEAUX. Action de F1000. black. No 71. Fold with repaired edge-splits. The café Tortoni in Paris was founded at the beginning of the 19th century by a Neapolitan named Velloni, who was succeeded by Tortoni, another Italian, renowned for his cooking. The café was at the corner of the blvd des Italiens and the rue Taitbout, and was greatly used by the leading political and literary figures of the day. The café disappeared about 1887. However, it had opened branches in Bordeaux, in 1827, and in 1858 in Buenos Aires. The Bordeaux café was at the baths of Quinconces, beside the bourse. We know that the Buenos Aires café still exists, as a famous tango club. This very rare share is of the Bordeaux café. Perhaps unique.
