OOST-VLAANDEREN. BRUXELLES. Part Sociale, specimen. brown, buff. # 140000. Formed in Brussels in 1912, and adopted a logo of three flaming torches. The company acquired a number of factories, in Ninove, Denderleeuw, Deux Acren (Hainaut), Grammont and Overboulaere (this was the property of The Belgian Match Co. - in liquidation). This company was apparently liquidated in 1931 after it was decided to transfer all match-production to a sister company, formed in 1920 as Fabrique Belge d'Allumettes. From 1935 Fabrique Belge used the name Union Allumettière, and the flaming-torches logo. This (specimen) type is new to us.
