LIEGE. HERSTAL. Action de Capital de F500. green, red. # 3000. No 2992. Some discolouration. Gillet started manufacture in 1919, and, together with FN and Saroléa, was among the leading Belgian makes. It became famous in the mid-1920s, with a rotary-valve 346cc two-stroke model. Other, larger, models were built, both at Herstal, and under license in Switzerland. The company showed great interest in racing, and had many top riders. Records were broken on the company's machines. After World War II, two-strokes from 98cc to 248cc were built, as well as vertical twins up to 720cc. A rare first issue.
