KOSOVO. PEC. 10 Shares of 250 dinars. multicolour. No 3991-4000. One tear with small hole in the left border (repaired). A carpet manufacturer from Pec (or Peja), now in Kosovo but part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes between WWI and WWII when this share was issued. The city (91.000 inhabitants) has always been a major center for skilled craftmanship, not in the least because of its historical significence as seat of the Serbian orthodox Church. Very attractive piece, with border of carpet designs, and vignettes of a woman weaving a carpet. Also awaterfall and finally a large view of the mill in the mountains. Printed in Vienna by M. Engel & Söhne. One of the prettiest, most colourful shares we've ever seen from that part of the world.
