VÄSTERVIK. Nytt Aktiebref. black. No 37. The 650m Gränsö Canal seperates the Gränö peninsula (close to the city of Västervik) from the rest of Norrlandet. The canal was created to prepare a shorter route for sea traffic between Västervik and the bay Gudingen. It was built by this joint-stock company in 1814-17. We offer here a 'new share' to replace an original founding share (unknown to us). In 1872 the canal needed to be renovated and for that purpose, it was taken over by the City of Västervik. Today, the canal is mainly a recreation area. Not seen before by us.
