LONDON. 5 Ordinary Shares of £1. green, black. No 1110. Large format with central fold. The Werner Brothers were a big name in the world of motocyclette. Of Russian origin, they set up a factory at Levallois-Perret, to manufacture a range of modern inventions including typewriters, phonographs and cinema equipment, but are best-known for the 1897 patent of the motocyclette - with the motor mounted above the rear wheel. They also worked on cars and motor-boats - the cars in new factory in Paris, avenue de la Grande Armée, and they took part in various races. Company formed in London by 1905. Text in English and French. The cert. shows a man riding a motocyclette, and the logo, including of course a motocyclette. The Werner brothers died in 1905 and 1908. Only piece known to us.
