BRUXELLES. Action Ordinaire. brown. #6000. No 3503. Folds and one repaired small edge tear. Superb and very rare certificate, with vignettes of Grand Place, St. Gudule and the Porte de Hal, also mediaeval figures in architectural frame. Designed by Charles Posch. Must be one of his prettiest designs. The investment bank was founded in 1896 with a capital of 1,5 million francs. It was basically the successor company of the stock brokerage firm Lambeau & Cie. In 1897, capital was increased with a million francs and in 1898, the capital amounted already 6 million francs. The bank was an important financer to the Usines et Fonderies de Rodange (later part of Arbed) when this company was established in 1899. It also financed the Comptoir Commercial et Industriel de l'Afrique Orientale and many other business ventures outside Belgium (e.g. in the Spanish railway industry). Only piece known to us.
