SAIGON. Cert. d'Actions Nominatives de F100. blue. No 699. Folds and a few pin-holes. Founded St. Dizier, 1881, by Jules Rueff, a French merchant and ship-owner, and one of the pioneers of French influence in Indo-China (apart from other colonial ventures). Head office in Paris. This company greatly facilitatedthe spread of French trade in Indo-China by shipping services on the Mekong River and Tonle Sap Lake. A popular feature was excursions from Saigon to Siem-Reap, for Angkor. A very decorative share, showing four vignettes of the company's ships, for freight and passengers, and corner-vignettes of anchors and ropes. This nominative share certificate is a type we had not seen before.
