13 BOUCHES-DU-RHONE. PARIS. Titre Prov. d'une Action de F1000. black on yellow paper. No 1720. Very large format with considerable edge-damage including a piece of paper missing from upper left border. The étang (or lagoon) of Citis is a part of the famous Camargue, a great salt marsh west of Marseille. Salt has been extracted from the lagoons since the Middle Ages or even earlier, and the industry still exists today. Every French kitchen has a pack of Camargue salt. This enterprising salt-gatherer, from 1837, even built a light railway, doubtless horse-or mule-drawn, to transport his saltto market. As such one of the three earliest French railroad shares. This piece has never before seen by us.
