Lotnumber: 249
BRUXELLES. Titre de Capital primitif Fr.1058-20, specimen. red, black. See previous lot. This piece is another great rarity : it is a (red) 'titre de capital', unlike the much better known (green) 'parts de réserve' (see next lot). The difference between the two is that the first is the original share in the company's capital while the second type was issued as an alternative to dividends. Moreover, the first type of shares guaranteed the investor in the early days of the company a 5% annual dividend while with the 'part de réserve', the investor gained a dividend only if business had been going well. This piece is a Bradbury, Wilkinson specimen of which a maximum of two pieces have come out of the printer archives several years ago.
