BRUSSEL/ANTWERPEN. Aandeel (Nominat.). black. No 35. The company printed a Flemish-language newspaper 'Vlaemsch België'. It was the very first Flemish daily newspaper in Brussels. Founded by a number of literary people led by the Flemish writer and member of Parliament (1863-1891) Jan J.A. de Laet and aided by for instance Hendrik Conscience, Theodoor van Ryswyck to name just two. The newspaper targeted both catholic and liberal readers and focused on defending the interests of the Flemish people. Publication started on 1 January 1844 and continued until 22 November 1844. Financial difficulties and political differences stopped further publication. Yet, some of the collaborators started a new Flemish (more catholic-inspired) newspaper, De Vlaemsche Belgen, the day after. Very early for acompany conscious of its Flemish nature. Only two pieces were discovered in the mid-1990s.Four times personally signed by de Laet to confirm the four payment installments.
